The strong winds and heavy rainfall that visited our area Tuesday night did some damage in the area.

There are reports that a tree fell on the parsonage of Lighthouse Baptist Church along Route 40 at the west edge of Altamont.  A listener reported that debris was scattered around the church building and also around the nearby St. Paul's Lutheran Church, also along Route 40 at Altamont's west end.

South of Altamont, a listener reported items blown around their property with one item stuck in the ground by the force of the winds.  A portion of the roof was blown off the shed at that location.

A semi was literally blown off I-57 north of Effingham near the Green Creek rest areas.  Another caller reported that the Sigel Road that runs between Sigel and Stewardson was blocked by high water at the river near Sigel.

A West Terre Haute man was injured in a crash caused by the storm at the north tri-level outside Effingham.

78-year-old Robert Downing was traveling on I-70 westbound near the tri-level when he lost control of his car due to the heavy rainfall.  The car ran off the road and struck a culvert.  Downing was injured and was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.

Scenes like the one below were also a common sight throughout the area. This (now-destroyed) trampoline ended up a good distance away from its home...
