Injury Accident on I-70 Involves Prisoner Transport and Vacationing Family

State Police Preliminary investigative details indicate an suv driven by Dement M. Ormand, 67 of Buffalo, New York, was traveling westbound on Interstate 70 at milepost 80 in the left lane at approximately 12:33 a.m. Saturday.   A private security prisoner transport van owned by Security Transport Services of Kansas rear ended the suv causing front end damage to the van and rear end damage to the suv.  

The security prisoner transport van contained 2 guards and 4 prisoners. All were treated on scene for minor injuries and were released.  

The suv was a rental vehicle containing a family of seven all from Bufallo.  Three family members were transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital by Abbot Emergency Medical Services.  The four remaining passengers self-transported to St. Anthony’s Hospital for examination and treatment and were released.  

The collision was witnessed by another motorist who remained on scene and assisted first responders.  

The Altamont Fire Protection District also responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
