The Class of 2012 at Effingham and St. Anthony high schools will graduate this weekend.
St. Anthony graduates will be recognized at a Baccalaureate Mass and graduation ceremony Saturday at 7pm at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Father David Hoefler will celebrate the Mass, and several St. Anthony students will participate in the Mass.
During the graduation ceremony, Michael Kabbes will deliver the Salutatorian speech, Father Brian Alford will offer the homily, Jackie Wortman will present "The Call" during the presentation of gifts, Henry Merz of the Class of 1962 will present the address to the graduates, a senior tribute "I'll Always Remember You" will be presented, and co-valedictorians Lauryn Ragland, Jennifer Schmidt and Elizabeth Wortman will speak.
On Sunday, the scene will shift to the west side of town. The 127th Annual Effingham High School Graduation Exercise will begin at 1pm in the large gym at EHS. The ceremony will be made more special by the retirement of long-time EHS Principal Mike McCollum.
The EHS Band will present processional and recessional music and will present "Inchon" as a special musical selection. Senior Brittany Worman will offer the invocation, senior speakers will include Class President Haley Hahn and co-valedictorians Kelsey Cramsey, Andrew Donsbach, Ilenia Hails, Christopher McCammon, Bailey Pals, Abagail Reed, Christopher Sandifer, Alexandra Spillman and Madeline Totten, Mr. McCollum will present the class to Unit 40 School Board President Delbert Soltwedel, and senior Joseph Garland will deliver the benediction.
The Class of 2012 at Altamont Community High School will also graduate this weekend, in ceremonies set for Saturday night.
