The mysterious nation isn't so mysterious anymore.
China is lifting the curtain on its nation and its economy and is inviting visitors to take a tour.
One of those who had the opportunity is Effingham County Chamber of Commerce President Norma Lansing, who took part in a tour in recent months. Lansing spoke to the Effingham Noon Rotary Club January 16 about her experiences. They included jet lag, a walk on the Great Wall, buying inexpensive but quality clothing and buying an expensive and low-quality cup of coffee (she said it's knowing where to buy your coffee that is one of the first things to address on your trip).
Lansing and the Chamber are working on another China trip. Check with the Chamber office at 342-4147 for more information.
The Rotary weekly student guest was Patrick Martelli, a son of Mike and Shelly Martelli and a senior at St. Anthony High School.
