Effingham Unit 40's Mentoring Program is in its 13 year, and Kim Varner has been there through them all. There when the program started, Varner says that the program, which started at Central School, expanded to the Junior High, and now to EHS, helps at least 120 kids each year, (likely 140-150 this year) with students meeting with Mentors as early as 3rd grade.

She'll have the opportunity to share the program's achievements during a national forum this week in Washington D.C., at the 2013 National Mentoring Summit. Kim, along with Kathy Nava-Sifuentes, will be presenters this Thursday during the summit.

Below is video from Kim's appearance on The Morning Show, where she also talks about how people can get involved in the mentoring program.
