Teutopolis firefighters handled a semi rollover incident on the interstate early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at 5am on I-70 westbound, two miles west of Montrose.  Firefighter Chad Mette said the driver apparently fell asleep.  Mette said the rig ran off the roadway and the driver, waking up, overcorrected and the rig overturned onto the driver's side and then skidded off into the median.

Fire crews reached the scene at 5:16am and had to cut the windshield out of the semi to remove the driver.  The driver, whose name is not yet available, was taken to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for examination.

No road blockage resulted from the incident.  Fire crews cleared the scene at 5:40am.
