An Effingham man is in custody in connection with the armed robbery of the Midland States Bank location in Farina Friday afternoon.

61-year-old Kenneth W. Rose is being held in Fayette County Jail for pickup by Federal authorities today.

FBI spokesman Brad Ware reports a man entered the bank alone, displayed what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun, and took an undisclosed amount of cash. Ware says the man fled the scene in a pickup truck headed towards I-57. The truck was stopped and the man taken into custody without incident in Farina.

While initial reports indicated two men were involved, Ware says they believe just one person committed the holdup. The bank hold up was reported at 2:27 Friday afternoon.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office, State Police and Fayette County Sheriff’s Department are all assisting in the investigation.
