State Crop Report for Week Ending November 4

There were 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork in Illinois during the week ending November 4.

Statewide, the average temperature was 48.3 degrees, 1.6 degrees below normal. Precipitation averaged 1.53 inches, 0.64 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 22 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 1 percent very short, 10 percent short, 76 percent adequate, and 13 percent surplus.

Corn harvested was at 93 percent, compared to 82 percent last year. Soybean harvest was 92 percent complete, compared to 91 percent last year. Sorghum harvested was at 89 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 83 percent. Winter wheat planted was at 85 percent, compared to 88 percent last year.

Winter wheat emerged was at 66 percent, compared to 70 percent last year. Winter wheat condition was rated at 4 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 27 percent fair, 45 percent good, and 19 percent excellent.
