Earlier this week, we aired a more detailed story on the December 20 crash in Shelby County that resulted in the death of Teutopolis resident Kyle Houser, but we've since confirmed that there was another person injured in the crash.

On Wednesday, after we contacted them about reports that there was a passenger who was injured in the crash, Shelby County sheriff's authorities announced that the reports were correct.

Shelby County Chief Deputy Sheriff John Gee said that there was a passenger in Houser's vehicle, 25-year-old Chad Arnold of Watson.  Arnold was injured in the crash and was taken by ambulance to St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur for treatment.

Gee apologized for the lack of information, saying the report on file did not list any passengers in any of the three vehicles involved in the crash.  After we double-checked, Gee said he learned that Arnold was a passenger in Houser's vehicle and was injured in the crash.  Gee said it was a busy night for authorities due to a winter storm and said Arnold had been taken by ambulance from the scene before the deputy who filled out the crash report reached the scene and the information about Arnold and his injuries was not relayed to the deputy by others at the scene.
