Three people were injured in a crash south of Effingham on I-57 Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened north of the Watson-Mason interchange at 3:24pm.  State police say a car driven by 18-year-old James Eldridge of Belleville was passing a semi when the car hit the rumble strips on the left side of the passing lane.  Eldridge overcorrected and came back across both northbound lanes, striking the front bumper of the semi.  The car then ran off the road and overturned coming to rest on its top.

Eldridge and two passengers, 19-year-old Amber Fekete of Belleville and 24-year-old Bear Pollock of Salem, were injured and were taken for treatment to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  Eldridge was cited for improper lane usage and no insurance.

The semi driver, James Walker of Risco, Missouri, was not injured.
