Cavaletto Appointed to Task Force on Sexual Discrimination and Harassment

State Representative John Cavaletto (R-Salem) has been appointed to the House Task Force on Sexual Discrimination and Harassment. Pursuant to House Resolution 687, House Republican Leader Jim Durkin made the additional appointment of Rep. Cavaletto to the Task Force.

“I voted for the establishment of this important task force in November,” commented Rep. John Cavaletto, a member of the Government Transparency Committee. “In light of the most recent resignation of the House Clerk, and the indication that this problem may need public hearings statewide to gather information, I felt I could provide additional support before the December deadline to file a report on the findings and recommendations.”

The task force is directed to conduct a comprehensive review of the legal and social consequences of sexual discrimination and harassment, in both the public and private sectors, and make recommendations to the General Assembly. Provides specific areas of inquiry related to sexual discrimination and harassment to be addressed by the Task Force. The Task Force is required to make its report, including recommendations in the form of legislation, to the General Assembly on or before December 31, 2018.

“We are scheduled to return to Springfield for the veto session in November and I anticipate we can present our report then with any legislation deemed necessary to help correct this problem, added Cavaletto.
