Women's Club Installs Officers

The GFWC Illinois Effingham Women of Today held its May meeting for the installation of officers for 2018 – 2020 and recognizing recipients of the club, district and state scholarship winners sponsored by the club.

Scholarship recipients included: Vivian Kaldas, recipient of the local club’s adult scholarship: Brianna Schmidt, recipient of the State Lorado Taft Scholarship; and Nicole Wellbaum, recipient of the 23rd district Scholarship.

Installed were: Pat Copple, President: Becky Brown, Vice President; Treasurer, Vanessa Caton; Barb Tull, Secretary. Mary Jane Koester, GFWC Illinois State Department Chairman served as installing officer.

In other business, it was noted that the raffle for the club’s child’s playhouse continues until June 7 at which time the winner will be announced. Raffle tickets are $5 each or 3 for $10 and can be purchased from any club member or from Becky at the Chamber of Commerce office. Dates for the GFWC Illinois 23rd District Meeting on June 19 in Centralia and the GFWEC Illinois Summer Seminar on July 26 in Vandalia were noted.

The GFWC Illinois Effingham Women of Today is the local volunteer organization which is part of the state and national federation of Women’s Clubs. Any person who is interested in getting involved with several local projects and scholarships are invited to contact any club member and attend any of the club’s monthly meetings.
