The North Clay Board of Education Monday voted to expel a third student for two years for actions that led to the cancelation of classes for a day, but again held the expulsion in abeyance if the student successfully completes alternative education.

The motion includes that based on evidence and testimony heard at Monday's meeting, the student committed "an act of gross misconduct" for involvement in a "threat of violence planned against North Clay CUSD 25".

The motion also indicated that the Administration attempted other behavioral and disciplinary interventions and determined that there are no other appropriate and available behavioral and disciplinary interventions.

Two other students were expelled for two years earlier this month for their involvement in the activity, but their expulsions were also held in abeyance if they successfully complete alternative education.

Also Monday, the North Clay board accepted the resignation of Sam Guthrie as part-time Science teacher effective immediately, and a request for an overnight trip for FFA to Joliet in April was approved.
