The Lake Land College Board of Trustees has voted to increase tuition and fees, effective Summer and Fall 2018 terms.

The tuition will increase by three dollars, to $105.50 per credit hour. The Board also increased the service fee by $1 per credit hour, to $29 dollars. The service fee helps cover textbook rental, technology, printing and related costs.

It's the first increase in tuition and fees at Lake Land since Summer and Fall 2016 terms.

The average cost for a Lake Land student will still run around $4,000, even with textbook rental.

Trustees also announced various award recipients.

The Equity in Effingham is the recipient of Lake Land's Business and Industry Partnership Award for 2018. The business will also be nominated for the statewide award presented by the Illinois Community College Trustees Association.

Scott Rhine, who serves as Lake Land's IT Network Administrative instructor, was the annual Full-Time Faculty Award recipient, and Adjunct Agriculture Instructor Ellen Trainor was named the Part-Time Faculty Award recipient.

College trustees also voted to extend the contract of Lake Land President Josh Bullock through June 30, 2021. It's a three-year extension of Bullock's contract.
