Alleged Threat at EJHS Determined Not Credible

Effingham Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan today said an alleged threat of violence by a student at Effingham Junior High School has been determined to be not credible.

Superintendent Doan issued a written statement that states "EJHS administrators were made aware of an alleged threat of violence made by an EJHS student."

The statement continues, "Immediately, law enforcement, supported by EJHS administrators, began to investigate. During the investigation, it was determined that the alleged threat was not credible."

Doan's statement continued as follows, "We wish to emphasize that Effingham Junior High School is a safe environment. The safety of our students and staff is our number one goal. We would like to thank those that came forward with information so these issues could be dealt with quickly. We would like to thank the Effingham County Sheriff's School Resource Officer(s) for their cooperation and support."
