SAMH Honors Leaders and Medical Staff

St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital honored members of the hospital leadership groups and Medical Staff at its Annual Recognition Social on November 27 at the Hilton Garden Inn.  The event was held to thank members of the Board of Directors, various hospital committees, and the Medical Staff.  St. Anthony’s 2011-2012 Annual and Community Benefit Report was distributed at the event as well.

Mark Reifsteck, St. Anthony’s Interim President and CEO, honored board committee members completing their terms of service.  These members were Justin Floyd, DO, from St. Anthony’s Quality Care Committee; Jim Rutledge from the Hospital Advisory Council; Joan Brumleve, Jesse Heischmidt and Donna Zerrusen from the Friends of St. Anthony’s Board of Directors; Nancy Joslyn and Lois Repking from the Auxiliary Executive Committee; Justin Floyd, DO, and Chris Koester from the Institutional Review Committee; John Merkel, MD, from the Home Care Advisory Committee; and Elene Awad, MD, PhD, Eugene Dust, MD, James Flaig, DO, Ryan Jennings, MD, David Kowalski, MD, Frank Lee, MD, Charles Runde, MD, Michael Schultheis, MD, and Jay Swanson, DDS, MD, from the Medical Executive Committee.

In addition, the hospital administration and Medical Staff took time during the event to honor Bob Esker, Senior Advisor, who is retiring in December.  Mark Reifsteck recognized some of his many accomplishments over his 26 years at St. Anthony’s.  Dave Storm, Chief Financial Officer, also shared some humorous stories about Esker during their years of working together at St. Anthony’s.  Esker was presented with a plaque in honor of his service to St. Anthony’s and the Medical Staff.

The hospital also honored members of the Medical Staff for their years of service to St. Anthony’s.  St. Anthony’s annually recognizes all active members of the Medical Staff celebrating their tenth anniversary and subsequent anniversaries in five-year increments.  Nine members of the Medical Staff were honored this year for their service.  The physicians honored this year were P.D.L. Nayak, MD, and Hasin Shah, MD, for 35 years of service; Narinder Arora, MD, and Charles Runde, MD, for 30 years of service; Douglas Kabbes, MD, for 20 years of service; Dominic Imburgia, MD, David Kowalski, MD, and Lisa Kowalski, MD, for 15 years of service; and Ryan Jennings, MD, for 10 years of service.
