This is the 100th anniversary of the Ainad Shrine in downstate Illinois, and a centennial celebration is planned in Effingham on Saturday.
A parade will step off at 10am Saturday. The procession will follow the traditional parade route through town, south on Maple in front of St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital to Jefferson Avenue, and then east on Jefferson through downtown, dispersing in front of City Hall.
The Shrine is also sponsoring a poker run that will leave the Effingham VFW Post Home on Veterans Drive at 1pm and will return to the VFW at 5pm.
There will also be a dinner and dance at the VFW Saturday night. The event is open to the public, at $10/person.
