The Effingham County Economic Development Advisory Board Tuesday heard that a potential client has been identified.

The Zone recently relocated from downtown to the former YMCA Building on Wenthe Drive. Advisory Board Chairman David Campbell said the firm is interested in funding help with new or upgraded equipment.

Campbell said the owner is still finalizing what assistance would be requested. The Advisory Board currently has close to $30,000 available.

Campbell also reported he's had a couple of other inquiries about funding help.

The Advisory Board received a grant several years ago and has loaned the grant monies to new or expanding businesses. Once the loans are paid back, the funds are re-loaned to other businesses.

Campbell also suggested the Board could consider paring back the number of members of the body. He said some members have repeatedly found it difficult to attend. It was noted that if the membership is kept at current levels, it could result in failing to have a quorum of members in attendance. A lack of a quorum would mean no business could be transacted.
