The defense began and concluded its case Wednesday in the trial of Charles Young.

The Springfield man is charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault. He's charged with improper actions against an underage girl. He was charged in 2015.

Following the conclusion of prosecution testimony, the defense requested a directed verdict of acquittal, a motion denied by trial judge Allan Lolie.

Following the denial, Young took the stand in his own defense. The defense then rested its case, and prosecutors began presenting rebuttal witnesses.

The trial could conclude Thursday.
