A drug arrest in Mattoon in recent days is believed by police to be related to life-threatening overdoses of the drugs involved.

Mattoon police and the East Central Illinois Drug Task Force arrested 38-year-old Paul Enloe of Mattoon just before noon last Wednesday. Enloe was arrested on two counts of delivery of a controlled substance along with counts of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver 15 to 100 grams of crack cocaine.

The investigation by police and Task Force members led to allegations that Enloe has been engaged in the sale of crack cocaine and illicit hydrocodone pills. Some of the pills Enloe is alleged to have sold appear to have resulted in life-threatening overdoses to the user. Those incidents occurred the evening prior to Enloe's arrest. A police officer used Narcan to revive one victim, and paramedics revived the other. Both victims were admitted to the hospital.

A search warrant served at the Enloe residence in Mattoon led to the seizure of illicit hydrocodone and crack cocaine.

Enloe is being held at Coles County Safety and Detention Center on $200,000 bond.
