EHS Wins $5,000 in Bottle Cap Collection

An initiative by Effingham High School has won the school a $5,000 cash prize.

Unit 40 Activities Director David Woltman talked with EHS Principal Kurt Roberts in August about the effort sponsored Pepsi where the entity that collected the most yellow pop bottle caps before the deadline would receive a cash prize.

Woltman said EHS students and others collected 14 pounds of caps, good for second place and the $5,000 prize.

Carbondale High School was the overall champion.
