Altamont school board members heard this week from teachers Cheryl Jackman, Nikki Worman and Tara Beard on KIDS Assessment for Kindergarten students.

The Board also heard from high school principal Jerry Tkachuk, who reported that the Class of 2017 graduation rate was 91.5%, which is up from 89% the previous year. He also reported that ACT scores were above the State average.

Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch told the Board that strategic planning needs to begin; the process, when to begin, who to utilize as a facilitator, and the timeline for the process.

The Board approved the budget for the coming fiscal year, hired Mitchell Martin as high school boys JV basketball coach, approved Mary Jo Bushur as volunteer high school volleyball coach and Kelsey Reardon as volunteer high school cheerleader coach, and adopted a joint resolution for Okaw Area Vocational Center for next school year.
