Two men are in custody for the killing of a man with area ties.

Twenty-three-year-old Justin Mentzer was found in his home in Maroa and pronounced dead Monday morning.  Macon County sheriff's deputies indicate the suspects have admitted their involvement in Mentzer's beating and stabbing death.  The incident occurred Sunday night; Mentzer was pronounced dead at his home Monday morning.

The suspects, Terris Warnsley and Douglas Taylor, are both 21 and both live in Maroa.  Each is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.  Police are investigating statements from the suspects regarding the reasons for Mentzer's death, but they seem to center around ongoing conflict between the friends.  There are statements that the two had had enough and decided to kill Mentzer.

Mentzer's family had lived in the Trowbridge area.  His father survives and lives in Decatur.  Mentzer's mother died in recent weeks after a battle with cancer.

Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home in Neoga will handle funeral arrangements for Justin Mentzer.
