US Postal Service Says Mail Early for the Holidays

Americans will entrust more than 15.2 billion pieces of mail with the US Postal Service from now to Christmas.  Monday, December 17, is expected to be the busiest mailing day for holiday packages, cards and letters with volumes to reach an estimated 658 million pieces on that day.

As the Postal Service prepares for the busiest mailing day of the year, shoppers are encouraged to mail their holiday gifts and cards early in the season.  Recommended mail-by dates for Christmas arrival are:

December 14--Parcel Post

December 20--First-Class Mail

December 21--Priority Mail

December 22--Express Mail

The busiest delivery day is anticipated to be Wednesday, December 19 and the busiest package delivery day is expected to be Thursday, December 20.
