Two people were injured Friday night in a motorcycle crash southeast of Effingham.

58-year-old Kevin Roley of Shumway was traveling on Illinois Route 33, a quarter-mile west of 1600th Street, when a deer ran onto the highway. The cycle struck the deer. The impact threw Roley's passenger, 57-year-old Karen Roley of Shumway, off the cycle, which came to rest in a field.

Both Kevin and Karen Roley were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

No citations were issued. The incident happened just after 10pm Friday.
