The Effingham Central Business Group is sponsoring the annual Old Fashioned Christmas Celebration downtown in a new location.  The event will take place in the old Fifth Third Bank/new Helen Matthes Library building on Sunday, November 25 from 1-3:30pm.  Santa is scheduled to arrive at his house via the Caledonia fire truck at 1pm.

The afternoon will be filled with a variety of events including horse and buggy rides provided by Bob's Legacy Carriage Company, Plant a Winter Garden provided by the Master Gardeners, Make and Take Christmas Cookie Decorating provided by Martin's IGA, Take and Go Christmas Photos taken by Effingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, and Christmas Story Time led by the Helen Matthes Library team.

Stang Arts will be doing an art demonstration throughout the event, and Balda Dental Office will be handing out free toothbrushes to children in attendance.  Of course, Santa will be available for a visit as well from 1-4pm that day.  Each child will be given a special treat from Santa.  Santa's full schedule can be found on the Chamber website at www.effinghamchamber.org.

Complimentary hot chocolate and coffee will be available for the afternoon provided by Martin's IGA.  Raffle tickets will be sold for the "Spectacular Santa Sweep" inside the old Fifth Third/new Helen Matthes Library building starting at 1pm.  Tickets will be sold for $1 each or a bundle of six for five-dollars.  Winners will be drawn at 3:45pm for several prizes donated by downtown businesses.  Proceeds from the raffle ticket sales will go towards improvements for the Santa House.

The Effingham Central Business Group is an affiliate organization of the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce.  For more information on any of these events, phone Katie Koester at the Chamber office at 342-4147.
