Effingham County Board members Monday approved a spiller's ordinance.

Board Chairman Jim Niemann said the ordinance will allow the County to recoup expenses when someone spills a load on a roadway that the County has to clean up.

The Board also approved changes in the loan agreement for businesses borrowing money from the County's revolving loan fund; approved a $1,000 donation from hotel/motel tax funds for the Good Neighbors of Lake Sara for this year's 4th of July weekend fireworks display; approved a one-year copier maintenance agreement; and agreed to waive the fee for use of the county's GIS system for the cities of Altamont and Effingham; approved 8-1 allocated zero dollars towards maintenance of the TREC Trail with member Karen Luchtefeld voting No; and agreed to host a county fair booth with member John Perry voting No.

The Board approved four appointments: Merv Gillenwater to the Board of Health, Dr. James Gratz as County Veterinarian; Charles Braasch to the County Board of Review, and Pat Dhom as a trustee of the Teutopolis Fire Protection District. Board members also approved award of bids for road maintenance materials, approved audit reports from the past year, and approved a $4,000 bridge aid petition from Moccasin Township with the County and Township splitting the cost.

The Board did not meet in closed session.
