One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning.

City police say 23-year-old Joseph Devore of Effingham lost control of the vehicle he was driving west of the intersection of Culpepper and Northwood at 1:17am.  The vehicle skidded sideways off the road and struck a deep culvert, causing the vehicle to roll.

A passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old Justin Prusa of Effingham, was injured and was taken by ambulance to St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.  He was later transferred to Carle Hospital in Urbana.

Devore was cited for driving under the influence and improper lane usage.

Damage was done to the yard at the residence of Alfred Holeman of Effingham.
