Vonderheide Wins State's Attorney Rematch in Shelby County

Gina Vonderheide won the rematch for State's Attorney in Shelby County Tuesday.

Democrat Vonderheide defeated incumbent Republican Deborah Riley, 5423 to 4675 and will take over the office next month.  Riley edged Vonderheide by 100 votes for the seat four years ago.

Republican Allen Bennett was elected Shelby County Resident Circuit Judge, succeeding the retiring Michael Kiley.  Bennett soundly defeated Stephen Friedel, 6554 to 3041 for the office.  Friedel was attempting to win election in Shelby County while serving as Fayette County State's Attorney.

There was a contest on the Shelby County Board in District Four, where there were three candidates for two seats.  Republican Robert Amling with 491 votes and Democrat Robert Simpson with 469 votes were elected while Republican William Walter received 263 votes.

A public question in the Village of Stewardson was defeated, 117 Yes to 215 No.
