Another defendant connected to the shooting death of Eric Lavaly in Greenup this summer has pleaded guilty.

24-year-old Laurinda McWhorter of Charleston has pleaded guilty to a charge of robbery. McWhorter has been sentenced to 36 months probation, which includes 120 days in Cumberland County Jail. She must also pay fines and fees as well as court costs.

McWhorter was originally charged with a Class X count of armed robbery that meant prison time if found guilty. That was reduced to robbery in exchange for the guilty plea.

McWhorter was one of several people at the home of Trenton Adamson in Greenup in July, where authorities say a plot was in place to rob Kyle Covault of Indianapolis when he arrived at the home to do a drug deal. Instead, a scuffle broke out and shots were fired, killing Lavaly and wounding Covault. Lamont Mimms of Mattoon has pleaded guilty to the murder of Lavaly, who was also at the home. Mimms was sentenced to 23 years in prison.

Still to be decided are the cases of Adamson, who is charged with conspiracy to commit armed robbery, and Covault, who is charged with possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful use of a weapon.

Adamson is next due in court on January 23, while Covault is due back on January 30.
