Up to 40 percent of all ballots to be cast in the presidential election could be from early voters.  In addition, polls of people who've already voted show President Obama with a comfortable lead over GOP challenger Mitt Romney.

According to Reuters-Ipsos polling data, Obama leads Romney 54-percent to 39-percent among voters who already have cast ballots. Nearly a quarter of minority voters, who tend to support Obama, and almost a fifth of white voters have cast ballots.

As was previously reported, early voting is underway across Illinois.
