Crash Near Effingham Injures One

A crash early Tuesday morning near Effingham injured one of the drivers.

The crash happened on I-70 westbound, about three miles west of Effingham, at 4:01am. State police report a semi driven by 45-year-old Balsharn Brar of Franklin, Indiana and a car driven by 77-year-old Claudia Stevens of Chicago were traveling when the semi driver failed to reduce speed and ran into the back of the Stevens car.

A passenger in Stevens' car, 68-year-old Willie Lowe, Jr. of Dolton, was injured and was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Brar was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
