Girl Struck By Vehicle in Effingham Monday Afternoon

A seven-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in Effingham Monday afternoon.

Effingham City Police say the girl got out of a parked vehicle and ran across the street, into the path of a vehicle driven by 35-year-old Amber Boggs of Effingham. The girl was struck by the Boggs vehicle and was injured. She was taken by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

The incident occurred at 5:26pm south of the CSX Railroad crossing on South 5th Street.

Police say no citations have been issued at this time, as the incident is still being investigated.
