Two Injured in Weekend Crash Near Henrietta and Jefferson

Two people were injured in a weekend crash north of the intersection of Henrietta and Jefferson.

City police say the crash occurred at 6:14pm Saturday. A vehicle driven by 28-year-old Glen Thoele of Effingham rear-ended a vehicle driven by 37-year-old John Hershey of Stewardson. 

Hershey and a passenger in the Hershey vehicle, 47-year-old Troy Riley of Cowden, both sustained injuries and were transported by ambulance to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Thoele was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.

Another crash involving an injury occurred at 11:37am Saturday north of the intersection of Keller Drive and Evergreen Avenue.

A vehicle driven by 17-year-old Devin Hart of Effingham rear-ended a vehicle driven by 62-year-old Dean Ridgway of Pana. Ridgway was injured, but refused treatment.

Hart was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
