Things have been busy at St. Elmo Elementary School.
Principal Sean Hannagan told the school board Monday that his students participated in a walk-a-thon fundraiser for the battle against Juvenile Diabetes. Hannagan said $2,036 was raised for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Hannagan said October 12 was Family Movie Night sponsored by the elementary Student Council, and the Council raised $100 from the event, which was also donated to JDRF.
Hannagan also reported that last week was Fire Prevention Safety Week. Several events were held in recognition of the week. Winners of the poster contest got to attend breakfast at the fire house. After breakfast, the winners got to travel to school in fire trucks.
In other business, the St. Elmo board approved the audit of the past fiscal year books; the annual school district report cards were approved, as a library per capita grant application.
Tresnee Adams was approved to serve as St. Elmo junior high cheerleading volunteer assistant coach.
