Two men with different frames of reference regarding Lake Sara have pooled their talents to write a book on the lake, its history, and its beauty.

Local entrepreneur Jack Schultz and local hand surgeon Dr. Nash Naam combined over the past year to write "Lake Sara: The Hidden Jewel in America's Heartland". Schultz has spent time at the lake since his boyhood, since the days when roads to the lake lots weren't even built, while Dr. Naam has grown to love the lake since coming to Effingham in 1990.

The book is a compilation of the history of the lake and how the lake has been an economic tool for Effingham. The book features writing by Schultz and the words and photographs of Dr. Naam.

Schultz said Dr. Naam approached him and asked whether he could help with a book that featured his photos of the lake. He said once he saw the photographs, he knew the book had to be written.

Our Greg Sapp spoke with Jack Schultz and Dr. Nash Naam about the book. Here's their visit...

A book signing with the authors has been scheduled for Tuesday, August 23 at 7pm at the Community Building at Lake Sara. The book will also be available for purchase at a cost of $48. Proceeds from the book will benefit the Lake Sara Forever Foundation. The book features maps of the lake including information on who lives at the homes along the lake in case you've ever been on the lake and wondered who lives at a certain location. Light hors d'oeuvres will be available and the authors will speak about their book.
