Beecher City Man Arrested After Disturbance Sunday Night

A Beecher City man was arrested after a disturbance Sunday night.

Effingham County Sheriff's Office received a report about 9pm Sunday of an intoxicated male riding an ATV and crashing into a vehicle in Beecher City. While enroute to the call, deputies received a report of the ATV operator attempting to strike two females and a baby. The subject was located by deputies at the Foodliner in Beecher City, fighting with several people.

29-year-old Matthew Dye was arrested by sheriff's deputies with assistance from the Illinois State Police and the Altamont Police Department. Dye was cited for DUI, careless operation of an ATV, resisting a peace officer, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, no insurance, disorderly conduct, aggravated battery to a correctional officer, reckless conduct, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, and possession of under 2.5 grams of cannabis.
