During his First Friday Luncheon presentation in Effingham last week, Illinois Business and Economic Development Corporation CEO Jim Schultz mentioned that a European company was ready to announce plans for a facility in Illinois.

That company has been publicly identified; German pharmaceutical service provider Vetter plans to develop a production and distribution facility in Des Plaines.

The $320 million facility will create at least 300 jobs.

Among the reasons for the firm choosing Illinois was a trip made by Schultz and other officials to Germany in April to meet with company leaders.
