North Clay school board members heard this week from their building principals about a program termed "awesome" presented for students by Clay County Sheriff's Deputy Chad Milner and Principal Keith Price.

"Shattered Dreams" is a live scenario of a drunk driving accident and how it played out for all involved. Several county authorities volunteered their time to participate in the drill, along with Air Evac. The program is being edited and will be available on the North Clay Channel 250 soon. The Board also thanked Deputy Milner for providing all students and staff with program t-shirts.

Also, high school Math teacher Tonni Micklautz presented the Board information on how she is conducting a "flipped classroom" concept this year. The Board also heard from Price and from Technology Coordinator Adrian Guzman on possibly accelerating the 1:1 program to all high school students next school year. The Board 6-0 in favor of the proposal.

The Board agreed to seek bids on various insurance coverages; approved a leave of absence for Kyla Hall; approved a tentative fiscal year budget with final action on May 26; approved a registration date of August 2 for the coming school year; approved additions to the curriculum presented by Special Education Coordinator Jody Aldrich for additions to the curriculum for special education students utilizing current staff; approved board policy updates for first reading; and agreed to seek bids on a shingled roof and a metal roof at the Unit office.
