Three vehicles ended up involved in a crash along US 40 near Altamont Saturday morning.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports the crash happened at 11:10am just east of 400th Street.

A car driven by 73-year-old Neva Carter of St. Elmo was slowed in traffic for pedestrians along the side of the highway. A following pickup truck driven by 32-year-old Colt Buckles of Olney skidded to a stop, but a pickup truck driven by 51-year-old Monte Huddlestun of Effingham failed to stop and rear-ended Buckles' truck, pushing it into the Carter car.

Neva Carter and her passenger, 69-year-old Claude Carter of St. Elmo, were injured, but both refused treatment.

Huddlestun was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
