A December 3 trial date has been set for an Effingham County correctional officer accused of taking funds from the county jail.

40-year-old Jason Thompson faces counts of theft and official misconduct for allegedly taking more than $4,000 from the jail while on duty since 2010.  He is suspended from his duties without pay and is free on bond.

Thompson is next due in court November 15 for a pre-trial hearing.
