The Unit 40 Early Learning Center re-opened this morning and classes resumed on schedule.
The ELC was closed and classes were not held Thursday and Friday due to a water leak and a subsequent discovery of mold in the building.
Unit 40 Superintendent Mark Doan Sunday said the cleaning of the affected area was completed and a satisfactory air sample report was received allowing for the building to re-open and classes to resume today. Doan commended their "professional partner", KAM Solutions of Mattoon for their "superb and thorough job" in cleaning the affected area and getting test results in a timely manner.
Doan said the next step is to begin the reconstruction phase. He said the work would occur so there is limited effect upon the regular school day.
