The North Clay Board of Education Thursday discussed tentative plans for a senior class trip to Panama City, Florida.
The plans were presented along with an itinerary. The Board voted 4-0 to approve the trip based upon having one male and one female faculty member chaperoning with administrative approval prior.
The Board acted on several personnel matters. Lacy Green was hired as a substitute bus driver, paraprofessional, cook, custodian and secretary, hired Margie Detmer to be a part-time high school Art teacher, hired Ben Farleigh as 5th and 6th grade basketball coach, Jeannie Crull as high school assistant volleyball coach, David Skelton as junior high head girls basketball coach, and Leigh Williams as junior high assistant girls basketball coach. Kevin Hammond was hired as substitute bus driver, and maternity leaves were approved for Stephanie Coble and Jerin Romack.
Enrollment figures for the first few weeks of school were reviewed. The Grades K-8 enrollment was 531, the highest enrollment in at least five years. The 2007-08 K-8 enrollment was 506. The high school enrollment is a different story; enrollment was at 174, compared to 199 in 2007-08. The figures total 705 students in both 2012-2013 and five years ago in 2007-08.
