Barbeque Winners Announced; Pros Take the Stage Saturday

(PEOPLES CHOICE AWARD WINNERS "LICKIN MY CHICKEN AND PULLIN MY PORK")

The Hometown Throwdown Barbeque Competition drew a big crowd to downtown Effingham Friday evening. On Saturday, the professional chefs take center stage.

Five local teams competed for honors Friday.

The Grand Champion award, including a $250 cash prize, went to "Kick Addis BBQ".

The Peoples Choice award went to "Lickin My Chicken and Pullin My Pork".

(A GOOD CROWD WAS SEEN THROUGHOUT THE EVENING)

BEST PORK STEAK--1st--Kick...2nd--2 Drunk Guys

BEST SAUCE--1st--Kick...2nd--Lickin

BEST PRESENTATION OF FOOD--1st--Kick...2nd--Lickin

BEST USE OF THEME--1st--Sauced Up...2nd--Hog Barn BBQ

The professionals...competing in the Kansas City Barbeque Society circuit...will be compete from noon to 2pm, with the award winners to be announced at 5pm. Almost 20 entrants will be competing.

Other activities will include the Farmers Market from 8 to noon...open hours in the Historic Courthouse from 10am to 2pm...a Power Wheels demo derby from 1-2pm...a Dairy Queen eating contest from 2 to 5pm...and music including the FACE Orchestra at noon, the Stew-Stras High School Band at 1pm, the Teutopolis High School Jazz Band at 1:30pm, and music by Garrett Biggs from 2 to 5pm. A cornhole tournament will begin at 1pm.
