Bottled Water Recall Includes Locally Sold Brand

Niagara Bottling has issued a recall of its bottled water after one of its spring sources was contaminated with E. coli.

The company says customers shouldn't drink the water without first bringing it to a rolling boil for at least one minute to kill the bacteria. E. coli can cause diarrhea, cramps, nausea and headaches, as well as other serious symptoms.

Thus far, there have been no reports of illness linked to the recall.

In a statement, Niagara says the contamination was discovered at a spring source on June 10, but the company wasn't notified until recently. Niagara also says they stopped using the source.

Bottled water brands affected include:

• 7-Eleven
• Acadia
• Acme
• Big Y
• Best Yet
• Morning Fresh
• Niagara (sold in the Effingham area, see below for label info)
• Nature's Place
• Pricerite
• Shaw's
• Shoprite
• Superchill
• Western Beef Blue
• Wegman's
  

Niagara says all spring water products produced at facilities in Hamburg and Allentown, Pennsylvania between June 10 and June 18 have been recalled. Niagara water bottled from other sources has not been recalled.

Affected brands have label codes that start with the letter F or A. Specific label information is located here from Niagara.
