Chamber Foundation Scholarship Recipients Announced

The Chamber Foundation of Effingham County recently announced the recipients of the 2015 Chamber Foundation Community Scholarships at the Annual Scholarship Sponsor and Recipient Luncheon. The Foundation awarded ten scholarships for both adults and graduating high school seniors.

Three Chamber members awarded Exclusive Scholarships. The recipients of the J & J Ventures Gaming LLC Exclusive Scholarship were Bailey Pals of Effingham, currently attending Eastern Illinois University to study accounting; Dillon Hardiek of Teutopolis, attending Indiana State University to study electrical engineering and Kaitlin Cordes of Effingham, attending Eastern Illinois University to pursue a degree in journalism.

The recipient of the BK Resources Exclusive Scholarship was awarded to Madison Woelfer. Woelfer will be attending Missouri State University to pursue her degree in business administration/fashion merchandising and management.

The recipient of the Legacy Harley-Davidson Exclusive Scholarship is Connor Greene of St. Anthony High School. Greene will be attending the University of Illinois-Champaign to pursue his degree in business.

Other adult scholarship recipients are Alex Kastl and Talia Moore of Effingham and Shelby Flach of Montrose. Kastl attends Maryville University pursuing a doctorate of physical therapy. Moore attends Eastern Illinois University pursuing a masters of business administration and Flach attends Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville pursuing a degree in accounting.

Additional high school scholarship recipients are Justin Goeckner of Altamont High School, who will attend Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville to study computer science and Megan Nuxoll, who plans to attend the University of Illinois to pursue a degree in dietetics.

All 2015 sponsors of the Chamber Foundation Community Scholarship Program were also recognized during the luncheon. Special recognition was given to the Exclusive Sponsors: J & J Ventures Gaming LLC, BK Resources and Legacy Harley-Davidson and Platinum Sponsors, which include Effingham New Car Dealers Association, Koerner Distributor, and Siemer Milling Company.

The Chamber Community Scholarship Program has awarded $167,000 to 130 area residents over the past 20 years. Scholarships are awarded to spouses, employees, and family members of Chamber member companies.
