Teutopolis village board members have given approval for a second entrance into a business to be located in the new west side business park.

The second entrance will be off Commercial Drive, the roadway leading north off Route 40 into the business park. McMahon Meats, owned by Brent and Margo McMahon, will be locating in the business park and requested the additional entrance.

Village board members also approved a $102,000 appropriation of Motor Fuel Tax dollars for street maintenance. The appropriation was increased to allow for additional work on a portion of Oak Street. The street continues to break up in that area, so plans are to develop a soil cement base and then spread a double treatment of oil and chip there in hopes of adding some stability.

Board members approved the appointment ordinance for the new fiscal year. All of the actions were just reappointments of existing personnel, including the village plan commission and board of appeals, as well as the village treasurer, attorney and engineer. Also approved was a new lease with St. Francis Church for use of a parking lot next to Habing's Furniture for the recycling bins used in the village.

Also approved by the Teutopolis board was the purchase of computer software, along with a replacement ordinance concerning owning, possessing, keeping, maintaining or harboring dogs and cats in the village. It had been many years since the ordinance was updated, with the old measure still referring to the long-closed village dog pound. Fines for disobeying the ordinance will not exceed $100, but will not be less than $25.
