Maybe along the coast, this isn't such a big deal, but Effingham City Police are investigating a burglary from a boat.

The burglary, from a boat owned by Eric Rakita of Charleston, occurred while the boat was parked at 1910 South Banker sometime between May 5 and Tuesday. Binoculars were taken along with a TV, a marine radio, an undetermined amount of food as well as miscellaneous paperwork including the boat title.

The thieves damaged two port hole windows on the boat, as well as a Sirius radio, a canvas cover and the cabin door.

Police are also investigating the theft of two purses owned by Courtney Hybarger of Watson from a residence at Lakepointe Apartments Tuesday morning, and the theft of a rear license plate from a vehicle owned by Andrew Copple of Teutopolis while it was parked at 1810 Avenue of Mid America between Saturday evening and Sunday morning.
