Fire forced an evacuation of the Raintree Inn on West Fayette Sunday evening, but no one was injured.

The fire call came at 7pm when a dryer full of bedding caught on fire. Effingham Fire Chief Joe Holomy said there was heavy smoke throughout the first floor and light smoke on the second floor. Guests in the motel were evacuated, but were allowed to return to their rooms a short time later.

Effingham firefighters helped remove smoke from the building and began clearing the scene shortly after 8pm.
