The trial of rural Altamont resident Steven Larson has been postponed until June.

The 60-year-old Larson faces two counts of kidnapping locally, as well as indecent solicitation of a child, unlawful restraint and obstructing justice. The counts stem from the January 31 disappearance of a 13-year-old girl from rural Effingham who was later located with Larson in a motel in Sikeston, Missouri. Larson faces additional charges in Missouri stemming from the incident.

Both State's Attorney Bryan Kibler and Public Defender Scott Schmidt agreed to the delay of the trial, which is now to begin June 1. A pre-trial hearing will be held on May 13.

Larson remains in Effingham County Jail under $250,000 bond.
